Ishee Tishee

Ishee Tishee.  That's "back and forth" in Mongolian.  Only the "ee" in Cyillic is really a long "a" sound in English.  Anyway.  In the last 6 or so weeks I have seen a lot of Ishee Tishee.  In US in March UB in April US in May.  Randy was here in May into June.  We both visited Jana's family in WA state then Randy returned to UB and I came back to Colorado.  To plan a trip back to Mongolia July 9--with Jana & Nikki!!! I now know why I feel like I move through life like a turtle.  It's because I do.  And I think I know why.  This trip back has slammed my sleep cycle.  I need sleep.  Lots of it.  These days I usually turn lights out about 10, toss & turn.  Up at 2.  Sometimes 4.  A pee and a bit of milk.  Eventually go back to sleep until 7 or 8.  Which is a bit late--by the time I eat, shower, have some Bible time, exercise; well, it's almost noon!  Randy calls between 4 and 6. ...

The Clampetts Move to Bella Vista

Well, after 7+ years we moved apartments here in UB.  The company wants to sell off the apartments and lease instead.  We resisted for at least a year--moving is a pain, the old one was comfortable, lots of memories, etc., etc.  Then the building became less and less comfortable almost by the week.  The leak from upstairs that the owners refused to fix. The deteriorating garage including the two sets of HUGE iron garage doors that clanged open and closed all night long. The worst was the crazy traffic right outside our windows.  The toxic fumes, the screeching noise. The dirt--Randy cleaned the balcony the week before! So, it happened rather suddenly.  We moved across the Tuul River into Bella Vista Apartments.  For the first time in our lives we have panoramic views.  River by day and city scape by night. The air is clean.  It's quiet. The gym is right in the building for Randy.  The salon is right here fo...

2 Cross the Finish Line

Yes!  Despite travel (3 international trips and one 10-day California trip) crazy fitting challenges and a steep learning curve, I actually finished two projects. 1. this jacket: I bought the cashmere wool here in UB back in January.  Took it to US in February.  After wrangling the thing to the ground regarding fitting, I almost finished it before my return to UB in April, but not in time for Easter.  After all that work, I didn't want to hurry the finishing work.  Now, it's really too warm to wear here; so will have to wait until the fall. Still, I'm pleased.  I learned to do my first full bust adjustment and used a new interfacing from Palmer Flesche, interfacing the entire front.  Learned a thing or two about lining.  Lining well that is.  I used the rayon Ambiance and  love it.  Hope to work with nothing else in the future.  Beautiful feel next to the skin, it breathes, and was lovely to sew.  I used a deep p...

Catching Up

Following a flat-out week to leave Colorado for Mongolia in time for Easter and then dealing with the um, "adjustment," of a 16-hour time difference that tends to crush all creative impulses...I am catching up with some blog stuff I just don't want to let get away. So, without further ado, my final days in the US: Lunch with friends...Maureen & Rita were there, too :)  --but check out Barbie's outfit!  Rita made it! Jana & Andreas came for a quick visit!!!  We packed a lot into 3 days--lots of fun, but not too many pictures I'm afraid :( A Plarn Party--that's plastic yarn for Mats for Uganda--find out more at  matsforuganda.wordpress.com Yes, yes, I did.  I went to the YSL exhibit with my ASG group right before I left.  Amazing.  Must see.  Only in Denver, though, so you'll have to come see me :)  When I'm not in Mongolia Munchkin time! Look!  A Hello Kitty Mermaid on the stairs! Making...
